Was riding in the woods at Croom today, and I see 2 guys riding at a very good clip along some cool trails. One on a yellow SUzuki and the other in blue gear and orange KTM. As we all do, we catch up to ride behind em thinking "game on!" As im behind the 2nd rider on the yellow Suzuki, i see "199 Pastrana" on his shirt .. and of course im like, "pastrana fan..but at least he's a good rider".. so again, this is in the woods, some close stuff, can't ride 100% or ya might eat a tree kinda riding. Having a ball, these 2 guys are looking back knowing they picked up another rider and we ride for 10 min or so. It had just rained and at the bottom of a hill we go over the lead guy has a little spin out in that slick as snot black mud. We stop to laugh and take a break and im looking thinking .. i think that is Mr. Pastrana, as he's giving his buddy no end of "how'd ya fall man"!!
He is a cool down to earth guy. We shoot the breeze for a couple minutes and I tell him I about broke a rib from laughter at the latest "Nitro Circus" episode where he backflips the bigwheel over the huge ramp. They then say "you lead man, you probably know the trails better than us" Im like totally cool! We had a ball. Travis and some buddys are there all weekend as he is "taking it easy" for something busted in his back. Dude is totally off his rocker
Don't expect him to jump off his bike in great concern if you fall down riding with him either. Im leading and one time looking back to make sure we are all together I veer off trail a bit and had to slam brakes to not eat a tree. I still hit the bark busters pretty hard and came to a pretty abrupt stop and he slides up just LAUGHING his ass off.. great time with these guys.
